4 Reasons for Landing a Career in Aviation

Reasons for Landing a Career in Aviation

Pilot demand has increased and continues to do so. Employment of airline and commercial pilots is projected to grow 13 per cent until 2030, faster than the average for all occupations—about 14,500 openings for airline and commercial pilots each year, on average, over the decade. Now is your chance to start a career as a pilot. It may have its challenges, but it also has some unique advantages. If you are passionate about aviation and ready to pursue this career, you will realize that it is a job full of adventure and thrill. Here are four reasons for landing a career in aviation.

It is exciting seeing the world from above.

By having control of the aircraft and looking below the wings, a new world opens up. Until you’ve seen the view from 1,000 feet, you don’t know what you’re missing. No pilot would say, “I am getting tired of this view”.   Every pilot has this opportunity to travel the world, experience exotic destinations, and learn about different cultures.

Have you ever thought that with a private pilot licence, you can experience that moment whenever you want, while with a commercial pilot license, you can potentially see it every day when you go to work?

Become a member of an elite group

The aviation industry is made up of amazing, one-of-a-kind individuals who share a passion for flying with a level of intensity and excitement rarely seen elsewhere. It’s contagious – and a little insane – but once you’ve experienced it, there’s no going back, and you will become addicted to flying. A tiny part of the world’s population has a pilot’s license. You will be a member of a select group of remarkable individuals. When you become a pilot, you immediately become a member of a brotherhood that spans national boundaries and cultures. It’s like having an instant family. Your new aviation pals will welcome you, assist you, and support you as a new pilot. They’ll make you desire never to give up. Who wouldn’t want to be treated like that by their peers?

Not many people can say they have an office in the clouds, and you will be one of them!

Career Growth and Variety of Options

Aviation is a rewarding career that offers personal and career growth opportunities by opening doors to a variety of exclusive paths.

You may start with an airline as a first officer, where you’ll be second-in-command on the aircraft. But a pilot can be in demand by any industry and has many career options other than working for a commercial airline.

Pilots can find employment outside of the commercial airline through private jet charter and aircraft. You can become a flight instructor and share your love and passion for flying with others. You can also consider flying cargo or private planes if you prefer few or no passengers.

As you may understand, there are many options and career paths you could take. It is in your hand to explore and make your dream a reality.

Excellent Salary

Pilots have the potential to earn excellent salaries as their careers advance. However, not every pilot makes the same amount throughout their career, and pilots’ salaries vary among airlines, types of aircraft, or even flying routes. Some of the criteria are – pilot credentials, level of experience, job title, type of airline and the country it’s based.

–    Greece: $1,910 to $6,980 (The average monthly salary includes housing, transport, and other benefits.)

–   Netherlands: Average salary is $245,000 per year

–   France: Average salary is $235,000 per year

–   United Kingdom: $24,000 (annually) for First Officer. $190,000 for an experienced captain employed in a major airline.

–   US: Approximately $20,000-$40,000 per year for a regional airline.
