The Initial Avro RJ/Bae146 Synthetic Flight Instructor Course (SFI), is designed to train you to the level of proficiency necessary, to enable you operate as SFI on Avro RJ/Bae146. The course is designed to give adequate training to the applicant in theoretical knowledge instruction; flight instruction and synthetic flight instruction in order to instruct for Avro RJ/Bae146 trainings.

What are the entry requirements in the Avro RJ/Bae146 Synthetic Flight Instructor Course (SFI) ?

In order to ensure consistent proficiency at the end of the course, certain qualifications are required for entry.

  1. Hold (or have held) a CPL(A) or ATPL(A) in the appropriate aircraft category
  2. Have completed within a period of 12 months a proficiency check as set out in Appendix I to PART FCL on a flight simulator of the applicable type
  3. Have completed 1500 hours flight time as a pilot on multi-pilot airplanes
  4. Have been as an observer in 3 route sectors on the flight deck of the applicable aircraft type or have completed 2 line orientated flight training based simulator sessions conducted by qualified flight crew on the flight deck of the applicable type. These simulator sessions shall include 2 flights between 2 different aerodromes with duration of at least 2 hours each, and the associated preflight planning and debriefing.

What does the Avro RJ/Bae146 Synthetic Flight Instructor Course (SFI) include?

 

The Avro RJ/Bae146 Initial SFI Course, comprises of 3 phases in total:

  1. Theoretical Knowledge Instruction of 35 hours in total. During this phase, you will attend the 25 hours Core Course – Teaching & Learning – as well as the Technical Training, which has a duration of 10 hours.
  2. The Simulator Training, comprises of 10 hours of Full Flight Simulator (FFS).
  3. At the end of your course, you will have to pass an Assessment of Competence (AoC) on Avro RJ/Bae146 FFS, by an Type Rating Examiner.
