What is the Pilot Assessment Preparation Course?

TAE Aviation Academy S.A. has prepared a Pilot Preparation, Selection & Assessment package, especially for CPL holders who wish to prepare themselves for applying for a job opening in an Airline.

This course is provided by professional pilots who have worked or are working in major Airline companies.  

Steps of Pilot Assessment Preparation Course

1. Pre-COMPASS Test

The Pre-COMPASS test is an online aptitude test which is designed to provide us with a general picture of trainee’s skills. 

2. IR Refresher Course

One of the most important criteria for a pilot to be hired from an airline is the satisfactory knowledge of IR. TAE has developed a tailored, 1 day full classroom IR refresh training course, with a duration of 6 hours.

3. Evidence Based Training (EBT)

The EBT course takes place in Academy’s ALSIM FNPT II and it is based on the concept of two students acting as a crew. The duration of the course is 4 hours, 2 hours PF (Pilot Flying) and 2 hours PM (Pilot Monitoring), including TEM and CRM elements.

EBT gives the opportunity to pinpoint applicant’s weaknesses and help him/her to improve them.

4. Airline Oriented Assessment Scenario

TAE provides 4 hours in an A320 OTD, which is based at TAE’s training center. A simulation of Airline Assessment will take place, to familiarize the pilots with the assessment procedure in a jet multi crew environment.  

5. Interview Techniques

After improving applicants technical and Non-technical skills, TAE will help them with the last but most crucial step of an assessment, the interview. TAE will support the applicants with an interview preparation based on airlines interview criteria.

What is the Advanced UPRT course that TAE Aviation Academy provides?

The aim of the Advanced UPRT(A) course, is to provide flight crew with the required competencies to both prevent and recover from dangerous situations. When  an airplane unintentionally exceeds the parameters for line operation or training (airplane upsets), knowledge on how to recover is extemely crucial. ICAO was the first to take the initiative to introduce Advanced UPRT, and in December 2019 EASA made Advanced UPRT a requirement for all pilots. Preventing loss-of-control saves lives and Advanced UPRT produces better pilots and safer operations.

REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements in the Advanced UPRT(A) Course

  1. Language: Holder of English Language Proficiency Certificate of minimum ICAO level 4 prior to start of training.
  2. License: Holder of PPL, CPL, MPL or ATP Licence
  3. Medical: Hold valid & current Medical Class 1 or Class 2 (for PPL only)

What does the Advanced UPRT Course include?

The Advanced UPRT(A) course, includes recovery techniques that are suitable for the aircraft used for training, in order to support the following training objectives:

  1. The relationship between speed, attitude and AoA (angle of attack)
  2. The effect of g-load on aeroplane performance, including stall events at different attitudes and airspeeds
  3. Aerodynamic indications of a stall including buffeting, loss of control authority and inability to arrest a descent
  4. The physiological effects of different g-loads between -1 and 2.5G
  5. Surprise and the startle effect
  6. Training in techniques to recover from: nose high at various bank angles, nose low at various bank angles, spiral dives, stall events, incipient spin
  7. Training to develop resilience and to employ strategies to mitigate the startle effect

Is the AUPRT(A) Approved by EASA?

We offer a fully approved Advanced UPRT(A) training course, as per EASA Part.FCL 745.A. The course includes both theoretical and flying training on aircraft well suited for the mission.

The flying part of the training course is conducted in 2 flights, taking the student step by step through the syllabus. After successfully completed the Advanced UPRT course, TAE will issue a certificate of completion, stating that the student has successfully passed the training required by EASA part FCL 745.A, thus qualifying for class or type ratings on:

  1. single-pilot aeroplanes operated in multi-pilot operations;
  2. single-pilot non-high-performance complex aeroplanes;
  3. single-pilot high-performance complex aeroplanes; or
  4. multi-pilot aeroplanes;

ICAO CPL to EASA Conversion Course

This course is designed to convert ICAO CPL(A) Multi Engine Rating (ME) and Instrument Rating (IR) to EASA CPL/ME/IR, based on the EASA PART.FCL regulations.
HOW TO CONVERT TO EASA CPL

How can I convert ICAO CPL to EASA CPL?

Converting ICAO to EASA CPL with Multi Engine and Instrument Ratings, requires the following entry criteria:
  1. Be at least 17 years old
  2. Holder of Valid and Current ICAO CPL
  3. Holder of Valid and Current ICAO Multi Engine and Instrument Ratings
  4. Valid and Current EASA Medical Class 1
  5. EASA ATPL Theory Certificate. If you don’t have this Certificate, you can learn how to obtain it here 
  6. Having completed at least 200hrs flight time, including 100hrs flight time as PIC (Pilot in Command) and at least 55hrs instrument flight time, of which up to 38hrs can be in FNPT II, including PBN Training
  7. Having completed the 300NM cross-country with two stops at different airports from the departure airport
  8. Having completed the Night Rating, including 4 hours of dual flight instruction and 1 hour as pilot-in-command with 5 touch-and-go landings in night flight conditions
  9. Be holder of EU Passport or meet the European Union requirements to sumbit application for Student Visa

What does the EASA CPL ME IR Conversion Course include?

Here is the flight training program you will complete for your conversion course:

  1. 14 hours of Theoretical Knowledge Instruction
  2. 6 hours of Flight Training on Multi Engine Piston (MEP) aircraft
  3. 4 hours of Simulator Training on FNPTII for IR/PBN purposes
  4. At the end of the training, you will also have to complete the following Skill Tests with an EASA Flight Examiner:
  • 1,5 hours flight check on Multi Engine Piston (MEP) Aircraft for your CPL 
  • 1,5 hours flight check on Multi Engine Piston (MEP) Aircraft for your ME/IR

A down payment of 950€ is paid on enrolment day. The rest of the amount has to be covered in 2 equal installments until the completion of the course.

Converting ICAO PPL to EASA PPL, requires the following entry criteria:

 

  1. Holder of Valid and Current ICAO PPL
  2. Valid and Current EASA Medical Class 1  or 2
  3. Having completed at least 100hrs flight time
  4. Be holder of EU Passport or meet the European Union requirements to sumbit application for Student Visa

What does the EASA PPL Conversion Course include?

Here are the needed steps for your PPL conversion course.

The training course consists of 4 parts:

  1. Pass 2 PPL subjects at HCAA exams center in Athens (Human Performance & Air Law)
  2. 4,5 hours of Flight Training on Single Engine Piston (SEP) aircraft
  3. At the end of the training, you will also have to complete a PPL Skill Test with an EASA Flight Examiner, of 1,5 hours in total

How Much Does It Cost To Convert the ICAO PPL(A) to EASA PPL(A)

The PPL Conversion course, costs 2.240€, without any hidden fees!

A down payment of 1.000€ is paid on enrolment day. The rest of the amount has to be covered until the completion of the course.

FI – Flight Instructor Course

Entry requirements in EASA Flight Instructor (FI) Course

  1. Valid EASA Pilot license which must include Valid and Current SEP (land) class rating
  2. EASA CPL or ATPL theoretical knowledge examinations passed
  3. EASA Medical Class 1
  4. EASA English Language Proficiency Certificate of minimum ICAO level 4 
  5. Pass a pre-entry Flight Test and Interview by the Head of Training
  6. A total of 30 hours flight time on Single Engine Piston (SEP) aircraft of which 5 hours shall be in the last six months preceding the pre-entry flight test
  7. A total of 10 hours Instrument flight instruction, out of which 5 hours can be in a Flight simulator or FNPTII
  8. A total of 20 hours flight time of cross country flying as PIC including a flight of at least 300nm

How long does it take to become a flight instructor?

The duration of the Flight Instructor Course, is approximately 2 months and comprises of both Theoretical Knowledge Instruction and Flight Training.

The Flight Instructor Course, consists of the following 3 parts:

  1. Theoretical Training. The theoretical training’s aim is to prepare the future Flight Instructor (FI) on teaching and learning methods. Student psychology and various teaching technique will be covered in the 125hrs Ground School, including briefings and debriefings. During ground school, you will be giving a number of lectures to a live audience (active training Students) on various aviation subjects.
  2. Flight Training. The total FI training is completed in 30 hours. 25 hours shall be completed on a Singe Engine Piston (SE) aircraft and 5hrs in an FNPT II
  3. Assessment of competence. At the end of the Flight Instructor course, you will have to pass an Assessment of Competence, which comprises of theoretical part and 1,5hrs flight part on Single Engine Piston (SEP) with a designated Flight Examiner.

What aircraft are used during for the Flight Instructor course?

During your flight instructor Course, you will be trained in both Single Engine aircraft types of TAE’s fleet, which are Diamond DA40 & Cessna C-172 aircraft. You will also be trained in our in-house AL250 Simulator. This will allow you to have experience in two types of aircraft, which will be very helpful for your future career as Flight Instructor.
